As a young man Chef Josef went through the customary rigorous European apprenticeship program found in Germany. He moved throughout Europe working at prestigious five-star hotels in Germany, Switzerland and England. Under the tutelage of some of the finest chefs in the world, he honed his skills.
Chef Josef eventually returned to Germany to own and operate his own restaurant for over nine years. It was consistently rated among the top ten restaurants in Bad Reichenhall. After committing this time, he decided to carefully consider his next step in his very successful culinary career.
In 1997 after visiting relatives in Milwaukee, Chef Josef was asked to be the executive chef for the Pfister Hotel, a four-diamond hotel and a landmark property in Milwaukee. He then accepted the position of executive chef for the Milwaukee Athletic Club in 2001 and has taken the club to a new level of dining. Most recently, he oversaw the demolition and rebuilding of the club’s main kitchen which has resulted in a state-of-the-art facility.
When Josef is not in the kitchen, he is enjoying the outdoors and is an avid runner.
